I suddenly had two downloads in the Itch.io app and when I wanted to start the game, the place where I installed it opened and let me choose between the older and the new version but without a game exe or something like that.
I deleted the old version data and could play again.
However I think I have it twice in the libary. I think it was true when they said the itch.io is kinda broken.
However it feels better to download what I can this way.

I appreciate every donation and they surely motivate me, but this is a pleasant hobby turned side gig for me, and I am happy with my work being appreciated and the community around it being healthy.

That happens when a new scene relies on variables that did not even exist in previous releases. When loading from a save, the chapter that initializes the variables (new ones included) is not run, and thus one must start over.

The current public release runs fine (I assume because it’s hosted on itch). The latest release that I have to download will run on iOS if I use the Microsoft edge app but it won’t load any images. I’m not sure if this is an iPhone issue with it being unable to find locally saved images (even though it’s in the same folder and I haven’t changed the file structure) or if I’m doing something wrong.
Your iPhone is not letting the html access local storage because of safety concerns. You will have to either try with a different browser/html viewer or tweak some settings. I will research something helpful as soon as I can.
Through a lot of trial and error, I discovered that it works with the Firefox app. If you move the index, images folder, and audio folder into the downloads folder for Firefox, you can then open the game from within Firefox by selecting it from the downloads list.

I think you need to delete your cookies and browser history. The game is finding a previous load, so it is not re-initialising the variables.
